3 Reasons to Visit Providence on Vacation

One of the best things about being bi-coastal has been getting to visit all of the surrounding areas/states on each coast. Since New York is still pretty new to me, I’ve spent a lot of time over the last year exploring neighboring destinations (especially since they are so close!). Providence, RI is one that’s DEFINITELY on my list (hello clams casino, which should be devoured based on name alone). And if clams aren’t your thing … here’s just a few more reasons!

Providence, Rhode Island is one of the most beautiful cities on the East Coast. Being one of the largest cities on this side of the country, Providence doesn’t get nearly as much credit as nearby cities like Boston and Worcester. With beautiful scenery, incredible buildings, and not to mention the luxury of experiencing all four seasons, the city of Providence has a lot to offer. Whether you’re considering purchasing a piece of Providence real estate or are simply passing through, here are the top four reasons to visit Providence on your next vacation.

College Life is Huge

Providence is home to none other than Brown University, an elite Ivy League school and one of the oldest higher learning institutions in the country. Each year, Brown University attracts thousands of students to the city, making Providence a great place for the younger generation. Thanks to the college life in the city, there are tons of local hangouts, restaurants and bars that have been known to draw crowds on nights and weekends. If your child is considering attending Brown University, or one of the other colleges in the city, why not make Providence one of the stops on your next vacation?

Great Food

If food is a big factor when choosing your next vacation destination, Providence should be at the top of your list. The culinary scene in Providence is huge, and there is truly something to appeal to just about everybody. Providence is especially known for it’s international culinary flair, and restaurants serving everything from Italian to Thai Fusion cuisine can be found in the city. Providence also has an abundance of food trucks, which are especially popular on weekends when people are out and about. If you’re a self-proclaimed foodie, you’ll absolutely love Providence.

Fun & Vibrant Nightlife

The nightlife scene in Providence is one of the best on the East Coast. The city’s downtown area has been known to attract huge crowds, especially on nights and weekends. There are tons of restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from when planning a night out, and there is usually some sort of event happening that brings the community together. During the warm summer months, there is something to do in downtown Providence nearly every night of the week, from food truck festivals to outdoor concerts. The downtown area of Providence continues to grow each year, and more and more people are making the move from the suburbs to be closer to city life.

If you’re thinking about taking a vacation this year, why not switch things up and head to Providence? With great food, a fun nightlife scene, and a rich cultural flair, the possibilities are endless in Providence.
