Super Special Site Launch Saturday: Bi-coastal Babble

This site launch Saturday is very near and dear to my heart because it’s one I’ve been dreaming up for the past few months. As a writer, I’m very familiar with the job seeker’s conundrum of not finding work because you don’t have experience, yet it’s hard to get experience when no one will hire you. It also especially difficult for writers in particular to find paid gigs. Often times writers are forced to work for free just to earn bylines, all so they can get a foot in the door.

It’s a perpetual unpaid internship. But there comes a time when this is just not sustainable. You need to make a living. But you also want to be a writer. Furthermore, this sets the precedent that good writing is not valuable. And this is just simply not the case.

Bi-coastal Babble was born partially out of this shortage of paid writing jobs. This co-mingled with the fortunate connections I’ve made over the years to some of the most amazing entrepreneurs, artists, coaches, real multi-hyphenates from all walks of life. I call these people clients, friends, and every where in between.

Being a woman myself, many people in my network also identified as femme or female. Splitting my time on both coasts, I also found that Los Angeles and New York were central hubs for a lot of new ideas and businesses. It felt like a natural progression and in short, that’s how Bi-coastal Babble was born.

We’re an online and print publication that features women from New York, Los Angeles, and those thriving on both coasts. Our mission is:

Bi-coastal Babble is dedicated to connecting women from LA to NY and providing paid writing opportunities to experienced and emerging writers. We're a hub for fierce females innovating and creating on both coasts.

I’ve been so pleased at its reception so far and the dedication of our writers, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where we had to take a hiatus from the paid gigs. All the women we’ve featured have also been incredibly generous with their stories and this site has been an absolute passion and joy to work on. The best way to keep up with is on Instagram @bicoastalbabble and then of course please do check the site often for updates. We’re always looking for new features and writers. Please feel free to reach out if interested!
